SlipNOT® employees took the time to ensure that the contents of each backpack specifically fit the curriculum for each grade. Younger students received flash cards and learning activity books specifically selected for their age group. Concepts included shapes, letters, numbers, basic words, colors, basic addition and subtraction. Older students received dictionaries, thesauruses, composition books, binders, notebooks and learning activity books on concepts such as multiplication and division, creative writing, word families and manuscript writing. Basic school supplies were also given to each student. These supplies included rulers, pencils, pens, crayons, colored pencils, erasers, among others. In order to ensure these supplies will be utilized within the classroom and for use by future students, the teachers also received basic school supplies.

Ralph J. Bunch Elementary School provides instruction-based Grade Level Content Expectations, set by the State of Michigan. Their students use the Accelerated Reading and Math Programs, as well as the Open Court reading program and Scotts Foresman math program. The Scotts Foresman math program was designed after the “;No Child Left Behind” policy and gives every child a chance to learn and understand math concepts (www.associatedcontent.com), and Open Court is a program that is known for its strong instruction in comprehension and writing (www.wikipedia.com). Bunch also offers programs such as Fine Arts, Computer Lab, Media Center and after-school tutoring. Students receive a well-rounded education, and SlipNOT® wanted to help contribute to their programs.
SlipNOT® hopes that the excitement felt by the students as they open their new backpacks continues as they learn and grow at Bunch Elementary School.
