Does and Don’ts of Flooring in the Food Industry

Does your food grade flooring pass this simple “Dos and Don’ts” list?  T.W.   • Do choose an USDA, NSF, and/or EPA approved flooring. Each one of these organizations have their own set of requirements that a flooring must meet in order to be considered safe to use in food handling or food processing environments.  There are certain chemicals and materials that should not be in the flooring as it may be detrimental to the consumable end product.  SlipNOT® products are registered by NSF International for use in the food processing facilities and have received many approvals and certifications from other organizations.  Take a look at the product registration letters provided by NSF International.
  • Don’t overlook the floors texture.   • Do consider odor. Nobody wants their food tasting like the flooring in the facility it was manufactured in.  Often time the odor of the flooring is overlooked and newly placed flooring may have a strong smell that can permeate into the food that is being prepared over it.  SlipNOT® products are made completely of metal and have no odor.
  • Don’t skimp on durability.
