Prevent Steel Products from Corrosion

Galvanized steel goes through a hot-dip galvanizing process which coats steel with a thin layer of zinc at a temperature of around 860 degrees Fahrenheit.  After the steel passes through a molten bath of zinc, the zinc reacts with oxygen, forming zinc oxide, which further reacts with carbon dioxide, resulting in zinc carbonate.  The zinc carbonate is a strong material that protects steel from elements which may cause corrosion.

According to the American Galvanizers Association, galvanized steel resists corrosion up to 100 times better than uncoated steel.  The galvanized finish is resistant to cracking and loss of adhesion once it’s applied to steel products.  Many industries such as utilities, infrastructure, marine, automotive and manufacturing experience corrosion on a daily basis; which is why they have made extensive use of galvanizing their steel.  Galvanized steel can be found almost everywhere.  It’s inexpensive, effective and may be recycled and used multiple times.

SLIPNOT Metal Safety Flooring has installed non-slip galvanized steel products on numerous applications such as anti-slip bridge decks, conveyer covers, industrial flooring, metal decks, metal walkways, road plates, platforms, trench covers, among many others.   Galvanized steel is mainly used for outdoor applications; where high traffic is present and complete slip resistant coverage and corrosion resistance is vital.
