SlipNOT® metal stair nosing is a quick and cost efficient way to transform a dangerous stairway into a safe stairwell. When walking down a stairway; shoes usually make contact with the same area of a step (the lip). A SlipNOT® metal stair nosing incorporates slip resistance onto the lip (or front edge) of the stair that becomes worn due to heavy or constant traffic. According to OSHA standard 1910.24(f) “All treads shall be reasonably slip-resistant and the nosings shall be of non-slip finish”. SlipNOT® non slip step covers meet all slip resistant recommendations set by OSHA, ADA, ANSI, ASTM and NFPA.
SlipNOT® provides a permanent non-slip finish that will last for years, in comparison to temporary painted or taped on products, which may only last for months. SlipNOT® is a plasma stream deposition process that applies molten metal to a metal substrate in a random hatch matrix. This creates a durable surface hardened to between 55 – 63 on the Rockwell “C” scale, that has a bond strength of at least 4,000 psi, and a coefficient of friction that is .85 or higher.
A metal stair nosing manufactured by SlipNOT® can be provided with an 82 degree, 90-degree angle, or customized. In contrast to the radius bend of a nosing, SlipNOT® also offers angle with sharp corners. For ease of installation, SlipNOT® metal stair nosing can be provided with J hooks or nelson studs to be embedded into concrete. Metal stair nosing can also be welded into place or provided with countersunk holes to be bolted into place.
SlipNOT® metal stair nosing is versatile and can be used for indoor or outdoor applications; from fire escapes to commercial office buildings.
