Hello and welcome to The SLIPNOT Minute. My name is Kevin and I’m a regional safety solutions manager for the company.
With so many different slip resistant flooring products on the market, we’d like to take a few episodes to compare SLIPNOT to some of them and see how they measure up. We sent a variety of samples of our materials and some other metal safety flooring products to an independent test lab and they had them run tests for coefficient of friction using the ANSI A326.3 standard. This standard is, by the way, the only current ANSI standard used for slip resistant flooring.
Let’s first take a look at diamond plate, which is commonly used in facilities as a slip resistant flooring solution. We can see here that brand new diamond plate performs acceptably when dry and new. But the second it becomes wet, it is incredibly dangerous with a low .34 dynamic coefficient of friction. This is well below the minimum coefficient of friction for industrial usage.
We can compare this to SLIPNOT, which maintains a .84 wet dynamic coefficient of friction, which is much higher than diamond plate is able to achieve when dry. The winner and best choice is clear.
