200,000 people experience a slip and fall event at their workplace. Bureau of Labor Statistics knows this is the third leading cause for workplace accident. Each year 750 to 850 people will die as a result of a slip and fall accident, as noted by BLS statistics. This is the second leading cause for workplace fatalities.

You can find a lot of data at the Bureau of Labor Statistics for your particular industry type. For example a small 50-person food manufacturing company will experience a slip and fall event once every 3 years on average. You’re in a larger automotive company or a major food manufacturer with 50,000 employees, you can expect 250 to 500 of these events each year. National Safety Council, as well as other organizations, compile a great deal of data; and one of the things research has found is that for every decade of life both the frequency of slip and falls and the severity of the injuries that result from them will increase. With an aging workforce, this makes mitigating slip and fall events even more vital to keep productive workplaces and increase the quality of life for the workers and even pedestrians.
