ER Visits Caused by Slip & Fall Injury

Accidental falls are the leading injury-related visits to the ER.  Almost 9 million visits occur each year, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.  The Home Safety Council (HSC) states that 33 percent of deaths and 40 percent of nonfatal injuries occur within people’s homes.  These falls may happen anywhere, anytime. The two age groups which are at highest risk are children under 5 and older adults over 70.  Many physicians suggest removing clutter in your home, making sure hallways and staircases are well lit, repairing loose stairway carpeting or boards and adding padding to play areas.

Injuries within the workplace are also often occurring.  Between 2008 and 2009, the Labour Force Survey reported around 246,000 injuries, a rate of 870 per 100,000 workers. Workplace injuries may be prevented by taking appropriate measures such as adding slip resistance, removing clutter, taking your time and looking out for loose objects.

A slip resistant product such as SLIPNOT may be an optimal solution for your workplace.  Adding slip resistance to existing areas such as flooring, grating, ladders, stairways and walkways may reduce the amount of ER visits within your facility.
