  • The Situation

A large loader manufacturer with products that lift capacities ranging from 2,000 to 37,000 pounds offers a loader that is capable of being driven on railroad tracks. Because of this, the ladder for getting on and off the loader is higher from the ground. To combat the safety hazard this creates, the loader can be ordered with an drop-down ladder that brings the lowest rung closer to the ground.

  • The Solution

To further increase the safety of the optional drop-down ladder, the manufacturer partnered with SLIPNOT® to provide slip resistant rungs. Stock steel rungs that are 10' long x 1" diameter with SLIPNOT Grade 2 steel were ordered with a mill finish. Not only does the Grade 2 coating provide adequate slip resistance in both wet and dry conditions, the stock lengths and mill finish also allow for customization in size and color.

  • The Impact

Since partnering with SLIPNOT, the manufacturer has been able to increase the safety provided by its drop-down ladders. And by following SLIPNOT's fabrication and painting guidelines, they are able to fabricate the rungs to the lengths and colors they need with no issues.
