  • The Situation

A local Spokane, WA-based general contractor with deep education experience was engaged by the Seattle School District for staircase safety in an elementary and middle school.

Several staircases were slippery, made of wood and caused a potential safety hazard for students.

  • The Solution

The GC contacted SLIPNOT for assistance and together, we designed a solution to meet the spec.

This included 15 various sized aluminum nosings with SLIPNOT grade 2 slip resistant aluminum for easy bolting to wood stairs.

The slip resistant nosings protect the easily worn wood while retaining the aesthetic and ensure that those that climb and descend the stairs remain safe for years to come.

The Seattle School District has joined other primary and secondary educational institutions in creating a confident and safe space for students and teachers.

  • The Impact

Safety is a top priority for the school district and its general contractor. There have been no reported slip and fall incidents on these staircases since SLIPNOT was installed.
