Aluminum Plates with SlipNOT®'s Stainless Steel Surface Installed in Borgata Elevators

The Situation

The Water Club at Borgata in Atlantic City, New Jersey is a 43-story, $400 million dollar hotel that features 800 guestrooms and suites, a two-story spa, 18,000 square feet of event space, five heated pools – indoor and outdoor, boutique retail shops, and direct access to and from the Borgata Hotel Casino and Spa. It allows guests to experience the cosmopolitan lifestyle that defines Borgata.

The Water Club holds high safety standards throughout their hotel whether it is public or not. A local sheet metal contractor was contacted in regards to service elevator flooring that needed to be renovated.

The Solution

The contractor reached out to SlipNOT® Metal Safety Flooring for a high traction product that would be lightweight, corrosion resistant, and have a file hard surface. The surface also needed to be flat, making it easier for wheeled carts to coast over.

SlipNOT® provided 3/16” x 69” x 96” 5052 aluminum plates with a Grade 2 stainless steel surface and pre-drilled countersunk holes for ease of installation. Stainless steel on aluminum was specifically engineered for aircraft applications due to its advanced properties.

SlipNOT® flooring has been installed throughout other Atlantic City hotels such as Caesars Atlantic City and Trump Plaza. They all required non-slip flooring for either kitchens, stairways, or elevators.

The Impact

The use of stainless steel for commercial applications has become extremely popular due to its clean, upscale appearance, and resistance to corrosion. SlipNOT® is able to increase the coefficient of friction without compromising the physical characteristics of the popular alloy.
