SLIPNOT® Achieves NFSI High-Traction Recertification for High-Performance Stainless Steel Safety Solutions

Independent testing proves that the patented, high-friction surface maintains certified traction long after installation

Detroit, August 19, 2026 – SLIPNOT®, the leading provider of specialized safety flooring products and surface technologies, announced that its high-performance stainless steel safety solution has earned the High-Traction recertification from the National Floor Safety Institute (NFSI). The audited rating validates that the high-friction surface maintains maximum slip resistance long after installation, helping to reduce slips, trips and falls across high-traffic indoor areas and outdoor public spaces.

To earn this recertification, the surface underwent rigorous testing to measure how well it prevents slips on wet floors. It maintained a minimum 0.80 wet Static Coefficient of Friction (SCOF) and a 0.58 wet Dynamic Coefficient of Friction (DCOF), exceeding NFSI’s highest standards for surface safety.

“High-performance floor safety isn’t only measured on day 1; it’s proven after years of heavy foot traffic, weather exposure and daily cleaning,” said Scott Sargent, Vice President of Sales and Marketing at SLIPNOT. “Our patented, high-friction surface that is manufactured directly to stainless steel creates thousands of micro-grip contact points that won’t peel, flake or wear down under various conditions. Maintaining our NFSI High-Traction rating proves that our safety flooring can provide long-term protection against slips, trips and falls.”

How NFSI High-Traction Certification Works

Independent NFSI certification evaluates flooring materials in two phases, laboratory testing and field testing, to measure the slip resistance across hard surfaces.

During testing, digital devices measure a surface’s static grip and dynamic friction while moving. Based on these measurements, NSFI assigns it to one of three safety categories:

  • High Traction (above 0.60 wet SCOF): The highest safety rating, designed for high-risk, wet or oily areas.
  • Moderate Traction (0.41–0.59 wet SCOF): Standard walkways that still require caution.
  • Low Traction (under 0.40 wet SCOF): Hazardous, slippery surfaces that require immediate repair.

Why NFSI Certification Matters

Slip hazards extend beyond the factory floor. Water, oils, heavy foot traffic and machinery as well as outdoor weather create dangerous conditions across various indoor and outdoor walkways, entrances, loading docks and public facilities. Independent NFSI testing proves whether a safety surface will maintain its grip under real-world conditions over time. Standardizing on certified High-Traction surfaces provides a safety baseline, allowing teams to:

  • Evaluate safety surfaces using verified lab and field data rather than general claims.
  • Maintain certified grip across wet ramps, metal stairs, catwalks and washdown areas exposed to rain, oil or snow.
  • Proactively review high-risk slip spots before employee injuries, public slip-and-fall claims or regulatory citations occur.
  • Use third-party test scores to demonstrate risk reduction and secure executive budget approvals.
  • Lower maintenance costs by minimizing the need to continuously replace temporary tapes, paints or epoxies that wear down.

How SLIPNOT Maintains High-Performance Traction

SLIPNOT maintains its NFSI High-Traction certification long after installation through these key engineering advantages:

  • Unmatched bond strength prevents degradation: Adheres to metal surfaces at up to 7,500 PSI on stainless steel, 5,000 PSI on carbon steel and 2,000 PSI on aluminum. This ensures that the high-friction surface never peels, flakes or loses its certified grip.
  • Grit-free design preserves surface integrity: Doesn’t use loose sand or grit that can smooth out, wear down or shed particles into machinery, product lines or work zones.
  • Built for continuous high traction: Outlasts temporary tapes, paints and epoxies by years, protecting operational budgets from reapplication costs while maintaining compliance with OSHA, ADA, ANSI and NFSI standards.
  • Multi-industry durability: Delivers certified High-Traction safety across harsh indoor and outdoor environments, including healthcare, commercial, industrial, municipal, institutional and marine facilities.

Manufactured in the U.S., SLIPNOT surface technologies are engineered to deliver high performance, audited slip resistance that stands up to continuous use.
