The Wild Animal Sanctuary in Keenesburg, Colorado rescued 25 lions from traveling circuses in Bolivia in late 2010. The sanctuary built compounds to hold all of the rescued lions and is now in the process of building a catwalk to lead visitors from the older lion habitats through the black bear, wolf and tiger habitats to the new lion compound. The metal walkway ranges from 22 to 40 feet high in the air. The sanctuary expects the metal walkway to be completed by the end of the year and it will eventually lead to an elevated 4,000 square foot platform in the new compound.
Adding slip resistance to the metal walkway is essential. With the sanctuary being located in Colorado, all types of elements can affect the walkway. Snow, rainwater and ice can all cause the metal walkway to become slick. Slip resistant plates or grating can prevent workers and visitors from slipping and falling into the habitats of any of the animals.
